MajorDonors.com provides you with a proven strategy to identify a robust pool of prospective board members. We then guide you through the recruitment process. Specifically, we work with you to:
- Identify an exceptional pool of prospective board members.
- Clarify the recruitment process, including who is going to contact each prospect.
- Provide “set up the meeting” training.
- Use a “Board Prospectus” to market your organization and clearly define board member expectations, including giving and attendance. (We will provide you with a sample Prospectus. If you want us to draft your Prospectus, add $750.)
- Determine if having an” Advisory Board” or “Friends of” group makes sense for supporters who don’t have the time or want the responsibility of formally serving on the board.
What you will be doing, with our guidance:
- Defining your critical board need – in addition to impact gifts.
- Forming an ad hoc “Blue Ribbon” committee whose sole purpose is to create an exceptional pool of board prospects. This committee will work in conjunction with your existing board nominating committee, if you have one.
- Generating board prospects from the “Blue Ribbon” committee.
- Contacting board prospects by phone or email.
- Meeting in-person with at least eight board prospects over the next 90 days—and then, based on interest, continuing the nominating process in conjunction with the board nominating committee.
Who you are:
- A start-up that fulfilled the 501c3 board requirement with three friends and/or family members and now realize that a committed, resource-rich board is key to growth and sustainability.
- An organization with too few board members, e.g., you can’t staff your committees.
- An organization with a board that:
- Is well-intended but has limited financial capacity
- Does not believe fundraising is part of its job and/or whose members do not feel compelled to make an annual gift reflective of their leadership position
